  1. Please join the Whittier Narrows Nature Center Associates for a monthly Night Hike this Saturday January 10 at 5:30PM. The hike (really a walk) is for all ages. The Nature Center Museum is open from 9AM -5PM daily. For more information on activities
    The natural area has been a wildlife sanctuary since 1939 when it opened as an Audubon Center. Today it is one of eight Natural Areas in the LA County Park system. It is threatened by development. See naturalareafriends for more on the effort to protect this rare natural area.

    This is not at Temescal, however, but still at Franklin Canyon, starting from the Nature Center.

    Build a tree and learn teamwork and trace the history of Franklin Canyon as told by its arboreal silent giants.
